CODE TERRA · PROTECT MY PHONE
Privacy Policy
Effective 25 October 2026
Protect My Phone is designed to help you protect phones you own or are authorised to manage. It works directly between paired devices and does not use a Protect My Phone account or cloud service.
Information kept on your device
The app stores the details needed to operate your paired devices: device labels and identifiers, paired phone numbers, cryptographic pairing material, selected protection settings, and the latest reported device status. The latest location, battery, network, Wi-Fi, sound and lock-command status may be kept locally so you can see the most recent response in the app.
Pairing secrets are protected using Android's security features. Removing a paired device removes its local pairing record. Uninstalling the app removes its app data according to Android's normal app-data handling.
SMS and device-to-device messages
When you pair devices or send a command, the app uses SMS to communicate with the paired phone. Command and response messages are authenticated and protected for the paired devices. SMS delivery is provided by your mobile network, so your carrier's privacy terms and charges may apply. The app does not upload message content to a Code Terra server.
SMS access is used to receive eligible paired-device messages and to send a requested response. You can revoke SMS permission in Android settings; doing so stops SMS-based commands and replies.
Location
Location is used only after you grant Android location permission and request a location feature. A paired phone can send its current or last known location back to your paired device. If you enable movement updates, the paired phone compares new locations with its previous reported location and sends an update when appropriate. Location is kept on the devices involved and transmitted through the authenticated SMS workflow; it is not sent to a Protect My Phone server.
You can turn off location permission or disable movement updates at any time in the app or Android settings. Previously reported locations may remain in local app storage until you remove the paired device or clear app data.
Other permissions
Camera: used while you choose to scan a pairing QR code. Camera images are not uploaded by the app.
Notifications, sound and vibration: used to show protection status and run an owner-requested local alert.
Device administrator: optional Android capability used only if you enable remote lock for that phone. It can be disabled in Android settings.
Network and Wi-Fi state: used to report the phone's current connection status to a paired device.
Restart and background operation: used to restore the app's enabled protection state after a phone restart, subject to Android's system rules.
Sharing and retention
Code Terra does not sell personal information and does not operate a service that receives your paired-device data. Information is shared only with the paired phone you authorise, through its SMS carrier, or with an app you deliberately select when opening or sharing a location link. Data remains on your device until you remove the pairing, clear app data or uninstall the app.
Children and changes
Protect My Phone is not directed to children. If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies.
